The wait is almost over. After MAPPA dropped one of the most visually insane debut seasons in anime history, chainsaw man season 2 has become the single most talked-about topic across every anime forum on the internet.
If you thought the Reze arc was just a rumor floating around Twitter, think again. Leaks, studio confirmations, and manga pacing all point to one massive reality: chainsaw man season 2 is closer than most fans realize.
This guide breaks down every confirmed detail, every credible leak, and every story arc you should prepare for before chainsaw man season 2 drops and the internet explodes with spoilers.
When Will Chainsaw Man Season 2 Actually Release?
Let’s cut through the noise. MAPPA has not pinned down an exact premiere date for chainsaw man season 2 as of mid-2025. But that doesn’t mean we’re flying blind here.
Production insiders suggest the studio shifted significant resources toward this project after wrapping up Jujutsu Kaisen’s final season. Animation pipelines typically need 12 to 18 months once full production kicks off.
Most credible anime journalists are placing the chainsaw man season 2 premiere window somewhere between late 2025 and early 2026. The Reze movie announcement complicated things slightly but also confirmed MAPPA’s deep commitment to the franchise.
What the Reze Movie Means for the Timeline
The theatrical film covering the Bomb Girl arc actually speeds things up rather than slowing them down. By adapting Reze’s story in movie format, MAPPA frees up the chainsaw man season 2 episode count to tackle later manga arcs with more breathing room.
Think of it as a strategic move. The movie handles one dense storyline, and the second season picks up right where the film leaves off. Fans who skip the movie might find themselves confused when chainsaw man season 2 opens with references to events they never watched.
The Plot Arcs Chainsaw Man Season 2 Will Cover
Tatsuki Fujimoto’s manga goes completely off the rails after the Bomb Girl arc, and that’s exactly where chainsaw man season 2 is expected to dive in headfirst.
The International Assassins arc introduces a brutal tournament-style bloodbath that brings in characters from China, Germany, and India. Every single assassin wants Denji’s heart, and the body count climbs fast.
Why the International Assassins Arc Changes Everything
This storyline shifts the entire tone of the series. Denji stops being a goofy kid chasing girls and starts facing genuine, world-level threats that test his sanity.
You’ll meet Quanxi, one of the most terrifyingly overpowered characters in the entire manga. Her speed alone makes every fight scene feel like a horror movie. Chainsaw man season 2 will likely give her the spotlight she absolutely deserves.
Returning and New Characters to Watch
Denji, Power, Aki, and Makima are all locked in for chainsaw man season 2. Their dynamics get far more complicated as loyalties fracture and dark secrets surface.
New faces include Santa Claus (not the jolly kind), Tolka, and the hilariously unhinged Aldo. Each one brings a distinct fighting style and a personal grudge tied directly into Denji’s chainsaw devil identity.
- Denji — More unhinged, more desperate, and far less naive than season one
- Makima — Her true intentions start bleeding through the surface
- Quanxi — Crossbow devil hybrid with speed that breaks physics
- Santa Claus — A doll-controlling nightmare straight out of Germany
- Power — Gets her best character development moments yet
Chainsaw Man Season 2 vs Season 1: Key Differences
| Feature | Season 1 | Chainsaw Man Season 2 (Expected) |
| Episodes | 12 | 12–16 (rumored) |
| Main Arc | Introduction + Bat & Eternity Devils | International Assassins |
| Tone | Dark comedy with horror | Full psychological thriller |
| Animation Studio | MAPPA | MAPPA |
| Villain Focus | Various devils | Human assassins + hybrids |
| Denji’s Growth | Beginner | Hardened fighter |
The numbers tell a clear story. Chainsaw man season 2 is shaping up to be longer, darker, and far more ambitious than what fans got back in 2022. The shift from devil-of-the-week fights to a concentrated assassin war raises the stakes dramatically.
MAPPA also learned from season one’s pacing criticisms. Insiders report the studio plans to let emotional scenes breathe instead of rushing through manga chapters at breakneck speed.
Where to Watch Chainsaw Man Season 2
Crunchyroll holds the global streaming rights and will almost certainly simulcast chainsaw man season 2 the moment it airs in Japan. Expect new episodes to drop weekly with English subtitles within hours.
An English dub usually follows about two to three weeks behind the sub release. If you prefer dubbed anime, patience will be your best friend here.

The fandom is buzzing, the studio is loaded with talent, and Fujimoto’s source material is an absolute goldmine waiting to be animated. The International Assassins arc is where his writing hits its peak, and MAPPA seems ready to match that energy frame by frame.
